So often, math lessons in the classroom are isolated to conceptual lectures and exercises, leaving students to connect the concepts they encounter in class to their real-world experiences on their own, with little to no scaffolding or support. The biggest difference in students are the experiences that they have - or don’t have – available to them. Let’s design some common, foundation-building mathematics experiences using Math Trails. Math Trails are planned walks to discover math in everyday settings and experiences of our students. With this time, let’s look at a Math Trail and possible ways to implement it in the classroom.
